Olive oil addict…

Okay… I am addict,  I admit it.   One of the things I have developed a huge taste for since I started this plan? Really good olive oil.   I mean REALLY good olive oil.  Not that kind in clear containers that you wonder if it is real olive oil.  No, I like the good stuff, top shelf olive oil.  Mmmmm…. I am getting happy just thinking on it.

When I first started with Dr. Jack, I asked him what kind of olive oil he liked and he told me, D’Avolio.  I didn’t know what D’Avolio’s even was… lol….hey, I live in South Buffalo, work in Lackawanna, and Hamburg.  I rarely travel to Williamsville or Amherst.   What do I know about that part of the world.  Anyway, last Easter break, I decided that I was going to be up near Dr. Jack’s office and I had always wanted to see where he worked.   So I stopped in to say hello!

As I pulled in, I saw that there was a D’Avolio’s next door. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to see what it was all about.   After my visit, I stopped in.  They had all these different olive oils, flavor infused and small cups to drop some in to taste.  They also had little bread cubes to dip.  I don’t eat bread anymore, so I just put my finger in the little cups or drank it.  They also had vinegars, flavored of all kinds but I don’t eat that either.

Dr. Jack had told me his favorite oil was Herbs de Provence.   I tried that first and it was love at first sip…. oh my goodness I had no idea that olive oil could be that tasty.  Okay, I don’t get out much, don’t judge me. Lol…..   I tried the ones I thought I might like, Basil, Dill, Tuscan Herb, and a few others.   Some appealed to me more than others.  I bought a small bottle and took it home.  It didn’t last long. Lol…..  and it was pretty soon after that I visited again.

I loveeeeeeeee their olive oil!  Loveeeeeeeeeee…. did I mention I love it?  On Salad? Oh my goodness, some of that and salt and peeper, or a quick squeeze of lime and I am good to go. It is sooooooo delicious. When I ran out, I tried improvising.   I used regular olive oil with a shake of organic Herbs de Provence.  Please…. no comparison.  Tasty but not like theirs.  I get giddy just thinking about theirs.  I even bought a little kit thing where you can carry your own every where you go and yes!  That is in my lunch bag every single day.   I like all the ones I tried.   Sometimes I feel in a Basil mood  and the Dill is great on salad with salmon.  Yummmmmyyyyyyyyy……

Really fresh lettuce, all kinds, chopped, with fresh cucumber slices, radishes, red pepper slices, grape tomatoes, artichoke hearts, any other vegetables I find, olives all drizzled with that oil, salt and fresh pepper?  That is my favorite!!

They have those customer reward punch cards, and they are so helpful in explaining anything you need to know.  I asked a ton of questions about which ones were better for cooking, which kind the clerk liked best.

A friend told me that there is an olive oil shop in McKinley mall, whose name escapes me this moment.   I have not been in there in forever, so I don’t know how it is. I might visit to see how they compare.  I have quite a defined palate for olive oil, you know. Ha ha…..   All I know is I am out and if there is one errand I have to run this Easter break? It’s a visit to D’Avolio!  Life is too short to not enjoy really great olive oil!  Feed the addiction….
