Hi!!!!
My name is Christine O’Connell. I was diagnosed in my early thirties with hypothyroidism and later diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. I have had a long relationship with this disease, and I wish I could say it was uneventful.
I learned very quickly that for every year I would have this, that the disease monster would unleash some other horrible symptom that I had to live with. My quarterly visits to the endocrinologist always were the same, “Oh that?? That’s because of your Thyroid disease. That?? That comes with Hashimoto’s.” All appointments ended the same, me understanding that I had something else to learn to live with and a prescription for increased medications.
People who know me, wouldn’t think that was so, because I spent a lot of time and energy, pretending how great I felt. After all, who wants a Debbie Downer around all the time, so it is easier to cover it up with a huge smile! But the battle inside was much harder. One of my greatest challenges was my inability to lose weight no matter what diet I tried.
After a lot of years searching I found a great functional medicine doctor, and began working with him. My amazing hero, Dr. Jack Saia, promised me he could help me and he did! I finally found a way, with his help, to relieve my symptoms and lose the weight I could not lose before. My website is about helping others who are scouring the internet looking for help, spending countless dollars on books, programs and all kinds of sites, hoping to find an answer.
I am a busy person, working two jobs. I have two grown children and two in law children, and a granddog that I absolutely adore. I have the most amazing best friend and whole group of friends and family that support me in everything I do. They are the people that keep my moving forward in my life, always looking to be better, to be healthy and strong because I don’t want to miss out on anything life offers.
I found help, and believe me, you can too. Don’t give up searching for answers. I almost did. Read my story and my blog.. Believe you can find an answer and don’t stop until you do!
Hugs, and wishing you well on your own journey!
Chris
