Dear Chris,
Great news. At the six week point and you are down almost 27 pounds. I am very proud of you. I didn’t say anything this week because I was waiting to see how everything went. Often times, when a person is sick, the body can go into a fat storing mode. It has to do with energy conservation. But, by continuing to take care of yourself and providing the proper nutrition, you were able to muscle through and drop a couple of pounds. That extra energy you have is a sign that your body has rebounded. Things are looking great.
Don’t be discourage about anything. Take a look at where you are now compared to 6 weeks ago. You have proven to yourself that the weight is going to come off. There may be a week or two where you plateau. I am not saying you will, but if it happens, don’t sweat it. Life is good for you and that is part of the weight loss cycle.
Missed seeing your emails. Back to normal for about a week!
Dr. Jack
Six weeks into the program and I was down 27 pounds but then I got a cold. Where before I would have run to the drugstore to search for all kinds of medication that was thyroid friendly, I wrote to Dr. Jack to find out what to do. All I kept thinking about was, ‘Ughhhhhh… another winter of a million colds and every bug that comes along.
I wrote to Dr. Jack and he explained to me that I did not want to be putting all kinds of things into my body when I had worked so hard to get rid of all the toxins. So I rested more, drank more and just waited. I thought, ‘He has no idea how long I am going to have this cold.” But in a day, I was already better and got totally better in under a week.
The funny thing is that I am not picking up every germ, every cold, constant sniffles. When you are healthier, you don’t get all those things. That was amazing to me. My body cured itself of the cold. My weight still moved that week, not a ton, but it still moved.
Stress, yes, even colds which bring physical stress, slow down weight loss, so what did I learn? Not to run myself ragged all the time! You have to drink, you have to eat right, most important, you have to get adequate rest to let your body do what it needs to do.
Later on in my program, I was working one night and suddenly thought oh no…. I am getting a urinary tract infection. I texted Dr. Jack right away but even before he answered, I started thinking…. “What can I do?” I work retail part time and I was at my job, so I ran to the vitamin section and found some cranberry supplements. I checked the label to see how natural they were. Then I got some lemons and squeezed them into my water and started drinking like my life depended on it.
By the time I got home, things were better and by the next day, all signs were gone. Your body can heal things if you give it what it needs!
