About six years ago, I had to have back surgery, a time I try to forget as much as possible. I had been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia and had taken a whole bunch of medication I didn’t need. I knew there was something else wrong. And once again it was a situation where the doctor was not listening to me.
I switched doctors to a new primary who knew me a long time and so he listened to me. He knew I was telling him the truth. After one round of physical therapy, he sent me to see a neurosurgeon, and a week later I was having surgery, not for anything like fibromyalgia but for a cherry tomato sized tumor that was attached to my spinal column and pushing on my spinal cord. The tumor was thankfully benign.
Finally, an answer to why I couldn’t feel my feet on the ground any more, and why my skin felt as though it was on fire ALL the time. I couldn’t feel anything in my feet or legs and it was miraculous I could still walk. After the surgery, the neurosurgeon told me that some spots of feeling would return and other things especially the line of the surgery might be dead zones. Luckily I got most sensations in my legs and lower abdomen back but my back still had dead zones.
Lots of times, people poked me and I had no idea they even did. Children would tap me on the back to ask for help and quickly learned I needed verbal cues because I had no idea they touched me.
A few months ago, I was complaining to Dr. Jack about these weird leg cramps I was having that were keeping me up at night. They were cramps that ran down the sides of my legs and the tops of my toes. He told me that I needed some chiropractic adjustment along with my nutrition plan. He found me a great chiropractor along my route to my evening job, Dr. Mark Sokolowski, in Hamburg.
Thankfully, the weirdo leg cramps are gone and Dr. Mark explained that I was a basket of misalignment and he was worked hard to fix all that. He also has been helping me with some residual back pain I have had for years. Add in my great nutrition and supplement plan from Dr. Jack and my great Pilates teacher, Nancy Hughes and things were going great.
A few nights ago, the weirdest thing happened. My surgery spot started itching like crazy. I kept wondering if I used something new, laundry detergent? soap? new clothes? No, that wasn’t it. Well, the next day I was walking in the store and the strangest thing happened. I kept thinking, “What is rubbing on my back?” And that thought stopped me dead in my tracks……I feel it!!! It’s my shirt!!! And I can feel it!
I texted Dr. Jack right away. I asked him, if it is possible that the dead zone could come back to life? He told me that…
The vertebrae were simply “misaligned” and cutting off the nerve flow. With nutrition and chiropractic, the nerve flow will come back.
What??? That is possible??? Oh my goodness, this is the BEST thing ever. I would have feeling there??? That is possible, six years later?? I went home and started feeling along my scar and I would say that of the 100% I couldn’t feel, I can now narrow that down to now I can feel at least 80% more than I could a week ago! How awesome is that????
Have I mentioned before how much I love this holistic doctor??? Dr. Jack doesn’t just fix my eating habits, he is fixing my everything!!! Here my body had the ability all along to cure this and all it needed was a little help. I sat on the bench at Walmart last night. Gosh those benches are soooooo uncomfortable with the metal grating against your back………….
Can I just say how GREAT that feels??
